Fire suppression water tanks provide dedicated sources of water intended to support automatic sprinkler and fire extinguishing systems. These tanks must store large amounts of water for buildings that have no access to municipal water, where water pressure and volume is inadequate to extinguish a fire, or where it is the sole source of water.

Increased regulations, insurance companies and site-specific needs determine how much water is required, as well as tank size, and if tanks are to be installed underground, above ground or indoors in new or existing buildings. Buildings in urban areas generally do not have outdoor space available for typical underground or above-ground tank installations. Fitting standard tanks into existing buildings presents numerous installation problems. One-piece tanks are too large to fit through existing entrances, where our tanks consist of modular components, that knock down for field assembly. They are ideal for retrofitting existing structures.

Modutank Inc. offers Varitanks, above-ground fire suppression water storage tanks for indoors and outdoors installation. They are composed of modular steel components designed for rapid bolt-together assembly using hand tools. Parts hand-carry through standard doorways, fit through windows, and lifted on elevators for difficult to reach indoor locations. Their modular rectangular shapes and standard heights from 6’3” – 10’ provide maximum capacity in typical indoor spaces. Sheared heights are also available. Furthermore, Vatitanks can be configured into shapes with right-angle corners, like the letter “L”, to fit unique indoor/outdoor sites.

Since 1970, Modutank Inc. has offered tank systems composed of modular steel parts and fitted with various liner materials. These tanks can be installed free-standing on level, compacted surfaces or permanently anchor-bolted to concrete footings. Modularity assures a wide range of sizes, shapes and capacities. Floating and steel covers, double liners, inlet and outlet fittings, leak detection, drains, vents and other ancillaries are available.
